I was born June 17, 1976 in Mansfield, Ohio. I have a younger brother, Rick, who's in dental school at OSU. My even younger sister, Heidi, graduated from Miami University this year with a degree in Zoology. She's currently doing an internship at the International Exotic Feline Sanctuary in Texas.
I went to Crestview High School, which is a small rural school that straddles Ashland and Richland counties. I think there were slightly fewer than 90 people in my graduating class. I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1994 to study computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. I've been stuck in Pittsburgh ever since.
Currently I'm employed by Apple Computer. I'm a senior software engineer working on Keynote, Apple's presentation app. My main interests are graphics (particularly of the 2D variety), object-oriented programming, and user interface design.
Some of my hobbies: watching movies (I'm an avid moviegoer), photography, writing, drawing, woodworking, running, juggling, unicycling (I can't technically do this yet), traveling, and home theater.

Why is this site called Wobbly Dog
?
For a brief period (about 10 months) I attempted to start my own software company producing a 2D drawing application for Mac OS X. I needed a name for this venture. My friend, Becky Buchheit, read an article entitled something like "Wobbly Dog Aids Scientists" about a dog with an inner ear imbalance that was helping scientists learn about balance disorders. Just for fun, she started calling me "Wobbly Dog" (in spite of my exceptional coordination) and we thought it had a nice ring to it. That and there were no other domain names left.
